Depth built out of shading and nothing else. There is not a border on this page, not an outline, not a box drawn in a second color. Every raised pill and every pressed tag you have scrolled past is the same flat grey as the background, with a light shadow on one side of it and a dark one on the other. That is the whole trick, and it is why the style is also called soft UI. Look back at the tags above: identical color to the sheet behind them, and they still read as pressed into it.

A quiet shell is not an absence of design here, it is the point: what you put on top of it stays the loudest thing in the room.
